If an external harddisk is not identified by the PC (not a virus issue), what could be the best way to handle this situation. Any tech guys? The harddisk was given to Stellar in Bangalore, who has quoted Rs. 65k for recovery and has already charged 12k for examination. They said that the head is broken and asked the owner of the harddisk to bring the exact same model with the exact same parts, which my friend has found almost impossible to find out (even after repeated searches online and in SP road, Bangalore - as no dealer will break open a HD to check if the part and model no.s of every part matches to the one required) and therefore, the harddisk is still with Stellar gathering dust. Pretty disappointed to see Stellar's exorbitant and non-helpful way of handling, how can they expect the customer to get a matching HD with the exact same parts..?
